Reminds me of Norma. She always rallied after the 'time to go to the vets' talk and I couldn't take her because I felt like I was being a murderer! I guess Max will decide when he has had enough!

Sorry to hear you have Lyme Disease but refreshing to hear you have an understanding doctor. Well done the pair of you for diagnosing the bulls eye rash, not everyone gets the rash so wouldn't always know their illness was related to a tick bite the smallest one being the size of a poppy seed so we are not always aware of being bitten.

Through a chat line Eurolyme I am in touch with several people who have become extremely sick with lyme Disease some from France but mainly from the UK.

I would recommend you check out Burrascano Guidelines found on the ILADS website or in files on Eurolyme or on Lyme disease Action website all links on my blog.

In Burrascano guidelines he recommends 6-8 weeks course of antibiotics at quite a high dose. this is to be sure of catching the full cycle of replication as although the infection replicates 24 hourly it can go into a cyst form and then reactivate 4 weekly.

Your doctor sounds very understanding most if they treat at all generally give only a couple of weeks low dose antibiotics.

This is one illness not to take chances with. I was ill for 6 1/2 years infact still not completely recovered as it took 4 years to diagnose me and three years of antibiotics to get to where I am now.

There will be many many people who do not realise their health problems could be caused by Borrelia.

Good luck in treating your infection adequately so that you do not fall into this awful chronic illness.

I would guess so.. Ian did it by flirting unashamedly with the girl who works there. I think she liked his accent! But.. you should get between 40 and 60% off of the book price depending on what you are buying.

Thanks for the suggestion - and they have one branch within reasonable distance of us. I guess my credentials as a farmer might be enough to get a discount if what I was buying could be used for work on the land . . . .

Instead of a dumper truck, he should get a compact tractor - and add a tipping back box. Then he could also have various mowing attachments. And so on. Much better than getting a dumper and a ride-on lawn mower . . . . so much more versatile and so much scope for getting extra bits!

It does indeed take a lot of concentration. I had a little play when we first got it, and although it is undoubtedly an Entertaining Thing To Do, my concentration span is famously small, and 15 minutes was enough-for-one-year for me, thank you very much.

Simon's bad back may have been exacerbated by the tension of the concentration, but it was brought on (as I predicted, I might smart-arsingly add) by his insistence on loading 20 x 40kg bags of gravel into the trailer single-handedly during the 7 minutes remaining before Bricodépôt closed for lunch.

Welcome to the world of digger widows! Ian has decided that he now needs a dumper truck. Everything is prefaced with "Well, if we have a dumper truck..." but don't tell Simon or he will want one as well! Ian's back also hurts a lot after he has been sitting in the digger. I say "how can you have bad back when you have been sitting still in a digger all day" and he says "You've no idea what it is like! It takes a lot of concentration"!

Ours was also stuck down. The man who arrived to do the emptying made a 'Tsk' noise, and said "Oh it's stuck down!". Then he went back to his lorry, fetched a hammer and chisel, and removed it in about 10 seconds! Obviously, he was used to finding this situation.

I would have expected your firm to do the same. Mind you, he didn't cement it back into place after the emptying. In our case, this did not matter at all, as the cement seemed to be only necessary for holding it in place while earth was being put over it again. If yours is underground, I guess the same would be true. If the cap is on the surface, then applying a little mortar (bought ready mixed from a DIY store) to make a seal should be possible?

Good luck!

.....we have been told by the company that I contacted, re F.S emptying, that we have to remove the cap ourselves - is this usual?? It seems very firmly stuck down with cement - haardly what two OAPs want to be wrestling with. Any advice out there?
