Twelve Tuesday Thoughts

The snow has brought with it a freeze on action. No Things get done. We do the usual daily tasks, and then retreat to the warm safety of our little house along with all the cats and dogs. It’s even difficult to get stuff done inside the house when it is full of animals. Dogs think sweeping is a game. Cats think dust-sheets to protect furniture from dripping paint are an even better game. And so we wait. We sit and wait for the rain to arrive and wash away this cold white stuff that has us and our little farm paralysed.

In the absence of any Happening Things to write about, here, to fill a space where an interesting blog post ought to be, are a few Thoughts and Observations. Continue reading

The More It Snows (Tiddly Pom)….

Snow has fallen. Snow on snow. Sno-o-ow on snow. Even the ice has got ice on it.

The llamas are cold and bored and stoical. The pigs are cold and bored and grumpy. The chickens are cold and bored and confused. They are none of them going anywhere or doing anything. The cats are … well, cats. Just not bothered. The puppies, however, are as happy as very happy, furry, bouncy things. Continue reading

DSM-IV* (Clinical Syndromes) CBA (not otherwise specified)

(* Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fourth Edition)

I have spent an inordinate amount of time over the last few days reading other peoples’ blogs. Shame on me, when I should have (could have) been writing my own. Clearly I have too much time on my hands.

Which brings me to my next point. Continue reading

Resolutions Schmesolutions

Well here we are. It is 2010. A year which still sounds to me as if it belongs in a science fiction future. But, somewhat surprisingly, it seems to have turned up here and now, on this very day. This year I really must . . . .

I’m not really one for New Year Resolutions.

Actually, I’m a bit of a sceptic about to-do lists in general. Not that this stops me occasionally creating one, when I come across some new computer tool with an indispensable feature to create all-singing, all-dancing lists that promise to make me so much more efficient, but end up merely providing a few minutes interest some months later when I come across the never-updated fragments of good intentions.

I said to Val yesterday that I had a huge list of jobs to do. Continue reading

Hair Today…

How come no one told me about puppy fur?

What I really mean is, why didn’t I know that, within a few months of getting our adorable, cuddly, fluffy puppies, all that adorable, cuddly fluffy fluff would fall out and drift around the house like a helium-powered magic carpet.

It’s everywhere. All the time. Regardless of broom action or vacuum ventures. I thought cat hair (especially eight-cat hair) was annoying, but puppy hair is in a league of its own. Continue reading
