Wrong Clothes

Hello again y’all. Here I am, just returned from an unseasonally snowy sojourn in Iceland England, to a similarly snowy reception in this bit of France. But it is very different. Owing to a lack of wellies and a warm coat, I was pretty much house-bound during my stay in Derby – along with my son who couldn’t even get his car out of his driveway to get to work. But here – oh joy – I have hats and gloves and thick socks and all manner of cold-weather gear, and even though I also have to go outside because of the animally things that need to be done, and my fingers still get a bit chilly-to-the-point-of-screaming-agony, it is generally a pleasure to do so. Like someone (probably famous and definitely smug) once said… “There’s no such thing as bad weather, only the wrong clothes.”

Not Starting From Here

Here’s a funny thing. As you will no doubt have noticed (from the swathes of inactivity that beset this blog from time to time) I frequently procrastinate and engage in task avoidance activities, when I should be writing posts. So I decided to watch a bit of tele instead.

Short and Sour

Bum, Bum and treble Bum. I appear to have totally wasted another whole day. How can that be? Here am I, all on my todsky while Simon is in Blighty, with ample opportunity to write at least another three chapters of the Famous Novel, and what do I do? After doing all the necessary animal-related activities, I sit down with my trusty lap top and set about wasting as much time as possible on pointless net-surfing. There is no hope….

Life’s a Glitch

Today is definitely a Glitch-In-The-Matrix sort of day. It began most oddly when I woke calmly, in the aftermath of a dream which was unlike any of the dreams I usually have. Regular readers may recall that I am afflicted with the curse of recurrent Frustration Dreams, where an endless series of generally unpleasant things prevent me from getting somewhere or doing something that I have to do. But this morning’s dream was different.

Seasons’ Fleetings

I don’t know what happened to Autumn this year. I guess it must have had another party to go to. It sure as hell didn’t stick around here for long. One day I’m giggling in the flurrying scurrying of red and yellow leaves, and toasting my toes in the orange glow of low sunlight, and the next I’m huddling inside my thickest of thick winter coats against the gloomy intrusion of dark days and chill winds. The season of mists and mellow fruitfulness has been elbowed aside by the impatient season of drizzle and dull dreariness.
